How to grow

Where to plant. Modern beds in a 'coffee' palette, cutting beds for flowers, formal borders with dark-leaved perennials; ideal as a specimen in a pot on a terrace.

Climate. To −18 °C — hardiness below average; in Ukraine winter protection is essential in all regions except the far south.

Care. Regular preventive fungicide treatments against black spot, especially in humid climates. Formative pruning in spring, removal of spent flowers. For a long vase life — cut in the morning, at the half-open bud stage.

About the name

Name. 'Cappuccino' — the Italian coffee drink made with milk; the name conveys the variety's characteristic coffee-cream colour.

Breeding. Bred by Hans Jürgen Evers (the same breeder as Candlelight) at Rosen-Tantau (Germany), released in 2005. Patent code TANoniccu / TAN00628. Parentage not disclosed by the breeder. It was created specifically as an 'unusual colour palette' for wedding floristry.

Significance. A cult rose among modern floral designers. Together with Candlelight it belongs to the 'Evers dynasty' — the line of nostalgic and florist Tantau varieties that brought back fashion for old flower forms. HMF rating EXCELLENT (21 votes), recognised as one of the top florist roses for wedding bouquets — its coffee-pink palette became a standard of the 'boho' and 'vintage' wedding aesthetic of the 2010s.
