About the name

Name. 'Mimi Eden'. 'Mimi' is a pet name, and 'Eden' links it to the Eden Rose® line from Meilland (because of the stylistic similarity of two-tone flowers with a saturated centre). Eden Rose 85 / Pierre de Ronsard (MEIviolin, Meilland 1985) is one of the best-known climbers in the world, inducted into the WFRS Rose Hall of Fame in 2006.

Breeding. Bred by Alain Meilland at Meilland International (Provence, France), bred by 2001, on the market from 2002. Code MEIptipier. US Plant Patent PP 14,194 (application 10/2001, granted 09/2003). Parentage is not published (typical Meilland practice).

Significance. A replacement for the non-existent 'Mimi Meillandecor', the 9th ghost variety in our catalogue (there is no such variety in the Meillandecor series). Mimi Eden is the only Meilland rose with the name 'Mimi' in our catalogue. A compact modern Floribunda / Mini-Flora for containers and borders, often recommended as a patio rose. Often confused with 'Mini Eden Rose', which is a different variety, MEIbigboni (a climber). No official awards (no AARS, ADR or AGM found).
