How to grow

Where to plant. A French 'château' garden, box-edged borders, formal English-style borders. The dramatic fuchsia tone and silver reverse make it the centrepiece of a planting.

Climate. Zone 6 (typical for Générosa) — suitable for all of Ukraine with moderate protection.

Care. Minimal — Générosa quality. Removing spent flowers encourages new flushes; formative pruning in spring. Precise disease recommendations are still being gathered — the variety is too new.

About the name

Name. After Château du Lude, one of the most beautiful châteaux of the Loire Valley (France, Sarthe department). Each year the château hosts the gardeners' festival 'Fête des Jardiniers du Lude', which celebrated its 30th anniversary on 1 June 2024 — the rose was officially christened in the château gardens on that very day. Godfather: Stéphane Bern, the well-known French popularizer of historic heritage.

Breeding. Bred by the SIRPHE® team (Guillot's R&D laboratory since 2012) in France. Introduced by the Roseraie Guillot® nursery in 2024. Variety name — SIRLUDE (internal code S013). Parentage not disclosed (SIRPHE trade secret).

Significance. An ultra-new, exclusive French variety — in September 2026 it enters Guillot's wider catalogue for the first time, priced at €22.50. It is NOT part of a 'Loire châteaux collection' (a common misunderstanding) — Château du Lude is classified by Guillot as a 'private acquisition' (an individual commission for the château). For now the variety is available only through Guillot France; it is not sold in the USA, Asia or Ukraine.
