How to grow

Where to plant. Borders, the front of a bed with low perennials, group plantings of 3–5 bushes, low hedges; thanks to its compact outline it suits even small flower gardens.

Climate. To −29 °C — suitable for all regions of Ukraine with minimal protection; one of the hardiest nostalgic floribundas.

Care. Minimal — typical Kordes-quality with healthy foliage. Removing spent trusses encourages new flushes; formative pruning in spring. Needs almost no chemical protection.

About the name

Name. 'Cherry Girl' — English for 'cherry girl'; it emphasises the bright, deep cherry colour of the flowers and their 'playful' character in full trusses.

Breeding. Bred by Tim Hermann Kordes at W. Kordes' Söhne (Germany) in 1997; made available to the market in 2009. Patent code KORkosieb. Parentage: unnamed seedling × Rosenprofessor Sieber® — it inherited its disease resistance from the latter.

Significance. Earned the ADR certificate in 2007 (before the official release — based on trial results) and the Gold Medal Hradec Králové (Goldene Rose von Hradec). One of the hardiest red nostalgic floribundas with ADR certification — a rare combination of health, frost hardiness and a romantic form. Belongs to the Rigo® Roses collection and the ADR-Rosen class.
