How to grow

Where to plant. The compact bush suits beds, borders and group plantings, where abundant and long-lasting red flowering is wanted without the need for a support.

Climate. USDA 6b–9b (RHS H6) makes the variety quite hardy for Britain and northern Europe; in Ukraine, plan light winter protection.

Care. Needs full sun (6+ hours a day); good resistance to disease and weather keeps care simple, although regular sanitary pruning after each flush keeps the bush neat.

About the name

Name. 'Red Abundance' — meaning 'red wealth' or 'plenty'; the name reflects the abundant flowering in clusters typical of this variety.

Breeding. Bred by the nursery Harkness & Co. (Great Britain) around 2003–2005, breeding code HARkimono.

Significance. A free-flowering velvety red Floribunda of the Abundance series, which also includes pink, cream and amber 'sisters'.

My climate

Choose a reference temperature to compare with the cultivar’s data. This is not an overwintering forecast or advice on winter protection; consider wind, moisture and the duration of frost.

Regional data are generalised. USDA describes average annual extreme minima, not a forecast; the values in the list are rounded. Check the conditions at your site. More information: Roses in Ukraine's climate.
