How to grow

Where to plant. In a sunny spot — in a courtyard, along a path or by a low fence (courtyard use), as a spreading shrub or on a low support.

Climate. USDA 6b–9b, hardy; in the colder zones of Ukraine protect the base.

Care. Well-drained fertile soil, full sun; thanks to its very good disease resistance, spraying is minimal; light formative pruning in spring; removing spent clusters encourages repeat blooming.

About the name

Name. “Rosenholm” — a Scandinavian/Danish name, literally “rose grove / rose islet” (rosen = rose, holm = islet or grove). Probably named after the Rosenholm estate (there are known Rosenholm castles in Denmark and Norway).

Breeding. Bred by the house of Poulsen Roser A/S (Denmark, founded 1878), a pioneer of garden floribundas (classics 'Else Poulsen' and 'Pernille Poulsen'). Code POUlover, Courtyard® series. On sale since 2000.

Significance. Modest but remarkably reliable — a “cloud” of small light-pink flowers, outstanding health and versatility (as a shrub or a low climber). Three exhibition medals (1988–1990). One of those roses whose beauty is easy to underestimate.

Choose a reference temperature to compare with the cultivar’s data. This is not an overwintering forecast or advice on winter protection; consider wind, moisture and the duration of frost.

Regional data are generalised. USDA describes average annual extreme minima, not a forecast; the values in the list are rounded. Check the conditions at your site. More information: Roses in Ukraine's climate.
