About the name

Name. “Ruffles Dream” = “ruffled dreams” / “lace of dreams”, for the unique ruffled texture of the petals (ruffle = frill, flounce) and its dreamy pastel colour. The Ruffle Roses series: Ruffles Passion, Ruffles Splendor, Ruffles Magic, Sparkling Ruffles, Romantic Ruffles, Mystique Ruffles, Ruffles Queen.

Breeding. Bred by Gerrit Pieter Ilsink at the house of Interplant Roses BV (the Netherlands), the leading Dutch breeder of the Ruffle Roses series. Code INTerdreru. Bred in 2002, on the market in 2004–2005. Parentage not published. The Ruffle Roses series is the result of a 25-year breeding programme by Interplant.

Significance. The most popular variety of the Ruffle Roses series. The unique ruffled/lacy petal form is the basic feature of the whole series. Dense dark-green glossy foliage — a special trait, rare for patio and miniature varieties. A “Persona-favorite” in HMF-polls. No major official awards (AARS and ADR not awarded). A niche choice for collectors of varieties with an unusual petal form.
